Title: 1966 Ford Bronco Project – Toyota 3RZ Engine & Spliced Frame (Clean Title)
Price: $ 19,000 OBO
Location: El Cajon, CA
Overview
Selling a 1966 Ford Bronco project vehicle in fair aesthetic condition. This is an unfinished, heavily modified custom project that provides an excellent foundation for an off-road rock crawler, trail rig, or unique fabrication build.
The vehicle is currently NOT RUNNING and non-registered. It must be trailered or flatbedded away.
Title & Legal Status
- Title: Includes a clean Texas title in hand.
- VIN Status: Due to the extensive custom chassis modifications, the original VIN plate is unknown, and the current VIN on the title does not physically match the vehicle. Sold strictly as an off-road project / as-is.
Frame & Suspension Geometry
- Chassis: The original Ford Bronco frame has been spliced with a Toyota truck frame.
- Front Suspension: Swapped to a Toyota Independent Front Suspension (IFS) system. Fully equipped with CV axles, a 7.5-inch differential housing, upper and lower control arms, torsion bars, single shock absorbers, and front disc brakes.
- Rear Suspension: Classic Ford 9-inch solid rear axle with drum brakes. Mounted via a traditional leaf spring setup with single shocks.
Powertrain & Mechanicals
- Engine: Toyota 3RZ-FE 2.7L 16-valve 4-cylinder engine (likely sourced from a 1995–2004 Tacoma or 4Runner).
- Transmission: 5-speed manual transmission.
- Current State: Fluids have been drained from the engine, transmission, and transfer case. Several under-hood components, select exhaust sections, the gas tank, and the rear driveshaft have been removed to facilitate work. Most of these removed parts are included in the sale.
Body, Wheels, & Aesthetics
- Body Tub/Panels: The body is in decent overall physical shape. It features an older repaint that shows its age and will need work depending on your goals.
- Tailgate: The rear tailgate is currently frozen / non-operational.
- Lighting: Headlight lenses are cracked; turn signals are present as lenses only.
- Wheels & Tires: Custom gold-painted wheels wrapped in rugged tires that still carry plenty of tread.
